The Walls Come Tumblin' Down

When you buy land or property from family, you feel an immense pressure to keep things as they are, to not change a damn thing ~ so much so that the very sight of things from the past creates an oppressive weight on your chest that makes it hard to breathe, & makes you want to turtle under the covers sucking your thumb or a vodka bottle.

When Puffy & I purchased our first home, it was a family deal. It seemed to me that everything we changed, or threw out, or any talk of renovations was met with a look of distaste & disapproval. As much as I lurved that house, it never felt like a home to me as this one does. The past wouldn't let go.

Now Lizard is well on her way to being free of the past.

This is what passes for excitement in a small town these days.

Well, this & the crack epidemic.
